is an oil painting by Georges Seurat. Seurat produced many other great paintings including Le Chahut, Circus Sideshow (or Parade de Cirque), View of Fort Samson, The Seine and la Grande Jatte – Springtime, The Models, Gray weather, Grande Jatte, Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, The Suburbs, Fishing in The Seine, The Laborers, tudy for A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, Bathers at Asnires, The Eiffel Tower and The Circus.

Most art followers, including pointilism experts, believe Georges Seurat’s A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte and Bathers were very important in altering the direction of contemporary art by encouraging the creation of the Neo-impressionist movements which flourished thanks to the achievements of Seurat. This considerable legacy has helped the artist to be seen by many as one of the leading icons of 19th century oil painting.

La Grande Jatte is an island carefully chosen by Seurat as the scene for this work. The French artist would spend a lot of time here progressing his ideas before embarking on the work. The island itself is in the Seine in Paris between La Defense and the suburb of Neuilly, enjoying the attractive the Pont-de-Levallois too. It was an inspired choice and since the painting the area has become ever better known and visited by tourists and art fans alike. This has been helped by the local council and business community coming together to make the best of the area and ensure that it retains the qualities that made Seurat choose it for this great painting in the first place.

It is a much loved work which has proven popular all over the world, thanks to it’s original use of the pointilist art technique where many thousands of different coloured dots are placed together to create the overall painting. Seurat used this is many other paintings as well as Vincent Van Gogh in his own career. The technique used in Sunday afternoon on the island is common place now, but at the time was original and highly innovative. Many art teachers will now give their students this skill as a matter of course.

La Gomera Island Life

taj-mahal-park

Those who prefer to cook will be pleased to learn that Santiagos supermarkets are well-stocked and realistically priced.

In addition, the villages many cafs, bars and restaurants, several of which are situated next to the small, picturesque port, offer a choice of anglicised, and more local, fare – enabling you to select from a light snack or a multi-course tapas meal. (Be warned: many Gomerans think of the latter, as the former.)

For a special treat, you may also wish to enjoy one of the five restaurants at the luxurious Tecina Hotel and Golf Complex, which is owned and managed by the islands first family.

That family, the Olsens, is inextricably linked with Gomeran history, dating back more than a century. No one knows what prompted Norwegian Thomas Olsen, and later, his son Fred (father of the companys current President) to begin buying land in the area, in 1904. One assumes that he simply fell in love – with the island, and its inhabitants.

Despite turning a considerable profit – by securing control of the islands freshwater springs, and purchasing huge tracts of land at rock-bottom rates – the Olsens brought (and indeed, continue to bring) if not wealth, then at least prosperity, to the island: in those early days by, amongst other good works, establishing a functional irrigation system and opening the islands first school. And, more recently, as Gomeras biggest employer.

Today, the island survives and thrives almost entirely on tourism. Which is hardly surprising. For, in stark counterpoint to the more exotic pursuits mentioned earlier, its a place where you can also enjoy the familiar comforts of home not least: BBC TV and Radio 4; water direct from the tap; and a high standard of accommodation.

You dont even have to adjust your watch when you arrive.

In fact, tucked away in your exceptionally well-appointed apartment, thered be little to remind you that youre actually holidaying on an extinct volcano.

Save, of course, for that sublime climate.

What Are The Different Types Of Beach Flag

storie-stop

When it comes to branding at an event or your business, one of the least expensive and most cost effective ways is by using beach flags.

There are many different designs to choose from depending on your preference and they can all be printed with your custom design. The ones that I’ve found have the pole made from fibre glass and the flag made from knitted polyester.

The shape of the flag depends on the model, here is a breakdown of the different designs:

Aero Beach Flags

Aero flags have a gently rounded top and straight bottom, with straight sides. This type of flag system comes in four different heights with the pole being three, four, five of six metres tall and the flag being one metre less than the pole.

Blade Beach Flags

Blade flags have a fully rounded top, the pole side is straight and the flag end side is diagonal form the pole at the bottom to the rounded edge at the top. This type of flag is also available in the same sizes as the Aero flag system.

Breeze Beach Flags

Breeze flags have straight bottoms, tops and sides for a maximum visual area of five metres by one metre. The Breeze has the greatest display area of all the types of beach flags. This type of flag is also available in the same sizes as the Aero flag system.

Mistral Beach Flags

Mistral flags on the pole side have a straight side at the bottom and rounded at the top, on the flag end side they have an angled bottom from pole to flag end and a straight at the top. This type of flag is also available in the same sizes as the Aero flag system.

Sirocco Beach Flags

Sirocco flags on the pole side have a straight side at the bottom and rounded at the top, on the flag end side they have a rounded bottom and straight at the top. This type of flag is also available in the same sizes as the Aero flag system.

Forecourt Beach Flags

Forecourt flags are very similar to Sirocco flags; the only difference is the flags are two metres in height and the pole is four metres in height. Ensuring that the flag is completely visible above any cars on the forecourt.

Well that’s all the beach flags that I’ve found recently, if I find anymore I’ll be sure to let you know.

Lanzarote – Island of Nature, Food and Music

travel-writing

Lanzarote is my all time favourite place. Not only just my favourite holiday destination but my favourite place on earth bar none. The climate is just right and the island has a mystique that surrounds its preserved natural beauty. Its a place that draws me back time after time.

When your flight starts to descend over Lanzarote, the first thing you will notice (usually out of the left hand window of the plane) is the volcanic landscape. The view of crater, after crafter is truly amazing and the colours of the mineral rich landscape set off against the blue of the sky and the sea are a real sight to behold. You will also notice how sparse Lanzarote appears from the air. Its only a small island and yet is not overrun with high rise developments. It really has the mix of tourism and nature spot on.

When the Plane touches down and you make your way out of the airport the landscape may appear quite literally, bone dry. Lanzarote doesn’t get much rain (it is off the coast of the Sahara Desert). The landscape on Lanzarote has been likened to that on the moon and whilst this might not be for everyone it certainly has its hold on me.

There are three main tourist resorts on Lanzarote. Puerto del Carmen (the largest and just minutes from the airport), Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise. Each resort has its own appeal to different age groups but the one thing they all share is great food. When it comes to dining out Lanzarote sets the standards. Go into any restaurant that lines the sea front of the resorts (and they are a few) and you will, more often than not, be presented with a wide selection of outstanding dishes. And the portions don’t come small! The price you pay for eating out in Lanzarote does vary. You can basically pay as little or as much as you want, but the average price usually gets you a really nice meal. A couple can easy have a nice meal for around 50 including starter, main, desert and drinks.

Finally, the music. I don’t know what it is about Lanzarote but the live music on offer tends to be so much better than anywhere else I have been. It really seems to blend in with the island and provides a great nights entertainment. Not only that but the musicians tend to be accessible so it easy to get to know them if you are a regular visitor to the island.

All in all, Lanzarote is the perfect place. The climate, the nature and the tourism all seem to sit together so well. Its not over commercialised and there is a real sense that whilst Tourism is very important to the island that it will not be forced into destroying the identity that has created the island we have come to know and love.

Beach Wedding Dresses to Sheath Your Perfect Day

??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Beach wedding dresses must be up to the task of being very romantic while, at the same time, doing well in the special beach ingredients of sand, wind and sea. You have got a superb range of choices of what you’re able to dress yourself in on that really big day. The truly fundamental point is to make certain it is a wedding dress that you will really love and want to sheath yourself in.

Start out by thinking about light-weight, sweeping, liquid, basic and not anymore than to your ankles, or simply a handkerchief hemline. spaghetti straps, halter top, Strapless, sleeveless, and perhaps a lovely wraparound dress would certainly be appropriate for any seashore location.

The seaside can be a a lot less formalized place for being married and does not lend itself well to heavier satin, a lot of beading, extended veils and trains. It also is often much less expensive as you’re able to locate outstanding wedding outfits right off the rack at numerous good stores.

Picking a sheath or perhaps an a-line style is easier to wear to a wedding on the ocean, particularly seeing that there is generally some blowing wind or gentle breeze on the sand. Often the billowy types are only going to get in the way and not turn out to be pleasant for you.

While off white, white and ivory is always gorgeous and acceptable, a fantastic light green or blue, soft yellow, or a lavender would definitely look fantastic with the natural backdrop of the magnificent sand and sea.

You and the fiance may still want a traditional formal wedding ceremony. If so, don’t forget to be mindful of weather and beach conditions and choose your dress with that in mind. Once more, not any heavier fabrics, lengthy trains and the veil short as well as uncomplicated.

You can choose to wear a tiara without veil, a crystal barrette or maybe a headband.

For the less formal affair you might elect to wear {a flower or flowers {or|or perhaps|or even|or possibly|or maybe a headband or barrette|a barrette or headband or maybe a flower or flowers. Search for things to match the gown to get a finished and a incredible look.

Then, comes making a selection of just the right wedding shoes for the wedding gown and the sand. Some brides-to-be are actually going beautifully barefoot, and buying barefoot sandals.

You might want a sandal or perhaps a formal flat and switch to a higher heel after the ceremony if your wedding ceremony party will be on a firm floor. These types of shoes are readily easily obtainable in shops seeing that beach wedding ceremonies are getting ever so popular.

Along with the fine sand, beautiful water, you will find there’s a “sky’s the limit” mentality when it is about beach wedding dresses and essential accessories, therefore you can enjoy yourself and go with that great gown for your tremendously precious beach wedding.
